ポールスミスの歴史
1946年、ポールスミスはイギリス・ノッティンガム生まれる。15歳で洋服の卸問屋を手伝うようになりまる。

1970年、24歳のときに自分の店「ポール・スミス・ショップ｣をノッティンガムにオープンする。自らデザインも手がける。伝統的なブリティッシュスタイルとロンドンのストリート感覚を融合させたモダンなメンズファッションが好評を得る。 1974年、その噂を聞きつけた「ブラウンズ社」に、専任のコーディネーター兼デザイナーとして採用され、自らのショップを経営しながら、3年間同社の買いつけとブラウンズブランドの商品デザインを担当。 　　　⇒続きを読む

『R.NEWBOLD』は、ポールスミスのカジュアルラインとして生まれました。
ヨーロッパでは、ＤＪ、グラフィックデザイナー、ミュジシャンなどといったクリエイション系の人達に人気があります。

そのブランドネームのルーツになっているのは、イギリス、ミッドランドに１００年以上以前からある衣料品工場の創設者の名前からきているのです。

かって、警察、消防隊、救急隊あるいは軍隊の制服が作られていたこの工場を、引き継いだ、ポールスミスは、それらの製品のもつピュアなイギリスらしさを、『Ｒ．ＮＥＷＢＯＬＤ』のコンセプトである。”BORN ＩＮ ＢＲＩＴＡＩＮ”に凝縮させました。
